Better than Tater TotsAdd To My Recipes
10 Gefen Potatoes, patted dry
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons Gefen Table Salt, divided
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon Gefen Garlic Powder
2 tablespoons Gefen Potato Starch
Glicks Cottonseed Oil, in a bowl, for shaping and brushing (about 1/2 cup)
Prepare the Tater Tots
Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit). Prepare a Gefen Easy Baking Parchment lined baking sheet and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Using a box grater, shred potatoes right onto your cutting board or workstation. (Try not to touch the potatoes too much, or they will get gummy.)
Spread out grated potatoes onto the cutting board and sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and potato starch evenly over them.
Gently fold spices into potatoes.
Dip your hands in the oil and grab about 2 teaspoons of potato mixture. Place on the board and shape into a cylinder.
Place uncooked tater tots on the prepared baking sheet and continue until the tray is filled.
Brush tater tots with oil. Put baking sheet in the oven and bake for around 45 minutes, until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Tater tots are just as good when they come out of the freezer. Double or triple this recipe and keep a supply on hand at all time for quick simple dinners!
Tater tots can be frozen before they are cooked or after. Freeze in a single layer and once frozen place in a Tupperware. To cook, simply remove from the freezer, place on a baking sheet and stick right into the oven. No need to defrost! Cooked tots will take around 10-15 minutes to reheat and uncooked will take around 55 minutes!
